Choosing a nursing pillow: Which ones are there and why are they indispensable?

As soon as people know you are pregnant, they immediately come up with all sorts of handy lists. Well, handy… they are often huge laundry lists. Do you really need all of that? And what is it all actually? You will also find a nursing pillow on these lists. Indispensable, of course, during your pregnancy, while breastfeeding, and as support after pregnancy, but if you haven't really delved into all those baby products yet, how do you know which one is best to buy? After all, not all nursing pillows are created equal. That is why we would like to explain the differences between the most popular nursing pillows.

Types of nursing pillows

As for the shape, you have a choice of several variants. You can use a large pillow both during your pregnancy and while breastfeeding. By wrapping the pillow around yourself like a snake or a semicircle, you can sleep soundly even during your pregnancy. This relieves some of the strain on your back and neck, and that big belly gets less in the way. The pillow provides support during pregnancy so that walking, sitting, and lying down become easier and pain is prevented.

Immediately nursing pillow that is almost as long as you are, you can curl up comfortably around it. In this way, the cushion provides support for your entire body. You can tuck the bottom between your legs if desired, and your head rests on the middle section. So you don't need a pillow anymore!

A large nursing pillow is also very practical when feeding. You can support your arm and position your baby correctly when breastfeeding. Or, when feeding twins or after a C-section, it can be nice to have the nursing pillow for extra support.

There is also a lot of variety when it comes to filling:

  • Styrofoam balls: these are also often found in beanbags. The disadvantage of cheap Styrofoam balls is that they make some noise when you move or turn. Additionally, they are static and stick together more easily with frequent use.
  • Polyester fibers: soft and comfortable, but you may sweat more easily because polyester fibers do not breathe as well. Memory foam: very firm foam that conforms to the shape of your body. It exerts less pressure on specific body parts. The disadvantage is often that memory foam pillows are less able to dissipate heat.
  • EPS micro-beads: Snoozzz uses extra small EPS micro-beads for hair nursing pillows. Filling that breathes well and provides great comfort. They are filled with air, so they compress less easily. They make virtually no noise, offer great support, and are super lightweight.

Above all, choose what seems most comfortable to you, because you are the one who has to lie on it or lean on it. Do you have any questions or would you like more information? Please feel free to contact us. contact Join us!

A nursing pillow is the same as a side sleeping pillow, breastfeeding kissn or a pregnancy pillow. They are different terms for the same product.
