If you are about to give birth during these busy and chaotic days, it is nice to be well prepared. Especially if it starts snowing or the roads are icy, the drive to the hospital can take longer, making it even more important to be able to leave home quickly once the time comes. It is all stressful enough as it is, of course! What is truly indispensable in your hospital bag?

- Clean clothes for after the delivery; don't forget boxer shorts or comfortable underwear (for maternity pads) and your nursing bra and nursing shirt.
- Optionally, special clothing you want to give birth in; thick socks can also be nice.
- A bathrobe, slippers or house shoes, and nightwear in case you have to stay overnight
- Bottle of water and muesli bar or something similar for the worst hunger
- A book, magazine, tablet, or something else to entertain yourself
- Your proof of identity and the midwife's papers

Stuff for you baby:
- A car seat with a nice warm footmuff
- The first clothes: onesie, outfit, socks, hat, and a nice warm jacket. Bring a onesie and outfit in two sizes, because you naturally don't know yet what will fit later on.
- A nice one shawl to be able to keep him warm (tight). And don't forget the sleep wrap No! This provides a sense of security and gives your baby the safe feeling just like in the womb.
Get the hospital bag ready no later than the 37th week of your pregnancy. Even if you plan to give birth at home, if you are smart, pack a bag. After all, it can always happen that the midwife refers you to the hospital after all, or that you suddenly decide to opt for pain relief. Then you don't want your partner to have to scramble to gather everything, or you, in between contractions!
